Inside-Out french braid

Use colored hair chalk (we used Hair Artist) on pieces of hair that you want to include throughout the braid. Curl hair around a 1.5-inch curling iron.  Dry shampoo is very important here — your hair needs to have texture in order to achieve this style!

1. Pull all hair over to one side. Take 3 pieces from the top and begin the inside-out braid. Gather a piece that’s about 3-5 inches wide and 1 inch thick.
2-4. Grab the outer piece (at forehead). Divide hair into three even strands, holding two sections in your left hand and the third section in your right hand. Bring the right-hand section under (instead of over) the middle section, and hold with your left hand. Take the outermost section from your left hand and bring it under the middle strand.

5. Continue down the side of your head, leaving out a few face-framing pieces. (If you’re bringing hair chalk into the mix, make sure a few of these hairs are chalk-colored ones.)
6. Finish with a clear elastic hair tie. Be sure to loosen the whole braid from top to bottom for a more relaxed look.
