Trade rejoice as business in Bollywood soar riding on

Bang Bang

Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif's Bang Bang has been

smashing box office numbers. It made 175.61 crore

gross worldwide in four days. The film has made

22.41 crore net on Sunday taking the total India tally

to 94.13 crore (134.47 crore gross).

Bang Bang has created records in the overseas

territories as it collected 41 .14 crore in the overseas

territories over the weekend - becoming the highest

opener of 2014 beating Kick in Middle East, UK and

US by a huge margin.

The huge collections of Bang Bang have got the trade

very excited.

Vajir Singh, Editor of Box Office India magazine,

India's top Bollywood trade magazine, is excited that

the industry has boomed riding on Bang Bang. "The

business has been phenomenal. The jodi of Hrithik

and Katrina has worked its magic again. Bang Bang is

holding supremely well. It is a full family entertainer

and a total masala movie. Audiences are loving the

film."

Top trade analyst Komal Nahta is delighted about

Bang Bang's record breaking collection. He says,

"Bang Bang has done remarkably well and has

become the highest opening film in hrithik's career so

far. A 4-day net total of Rs. 94 crore is huge! What's

also very creditable is the $6 million weekend

overseas! B.O. figures like these are not seen very

often."

Editor of leading trade site KoiMoi.com Nikita Wagh

says, "Bang bang was expected to bang the box office

charts. And yes it did and how! Being a complete

mass entertainer, the film has been liked by one and

all! The makers quite intelligently chose the extnd

weekend, and that helped this flick to soar even

more. Multiplexes and single screens are seeing an

upswing today. One wonders, if it were a solo release

it would have shattered all previous major box office

records."

Bang Bang, directed by Siddharth Anand and

produced by Fox Star Studios, has made multiple

records in India and overseas territories over the

weekend. On day one, it blasted itself into the top 5

openers of all time in Bollywood.

The out-and-out entertainer has maintained it's

dominance at the counters through the weekend. The

film's opening marked Hrithik Roshan biggest opening

of his career and Katrina Kaif now has three movies

in the top 5 openers of all time.

Bang Bang is being appreciated widely by audiences.

The film is complete masala, family entertainer.

Bang Bang box-office report: grosses Rs 125 crore worldwide in three days

Be it for the never-seen-before stunts or scorching chemistry between lead actors Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif, 'Bang Bang' is doing extremely well at the box-office. If figures estimated by production house are to be believed, the movie has earned Rs 125 crore worldwide in just three days of its release, and has made a gross of Rs 100 crore in India.

"That is so cool. Opening higher than a franchise film like Krrish 3 and beating my own record is one way to realise my own growth and strength. But after that, it's not about me, I'm just glad I've been able to entertain my audience," Hrithik said in a statement.

The Krrish franchise began with the 2003 hit sci-fi movie Koi... Mil Gaya. And Krrish 3, which released Nov 1, 2013, was the third installment in the franchise. 

The Greek god of Bollywood also acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the whole crew which led to the success of the film. 

"And the entire credit for this humongous success goes to the whole starcast, the entire crew and especially to the director Sid Anand. I stand here in gratitude," he added in the statement.

Bang Bang: Lives Up To Expectations

When the director of films like ‘Hum Tum’ and ‘Salaam Namaste’ is given the reigns of remaking a mediocre Hollywood action movie (‘Knight and Day’), the result is ‘Bang Bang’. Siddharth Anand’s glossy, globe-trotting film sells itself on its gorgeous lead actors (Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif), inflated budget, a couple of showpiece dance numbers (Roshan rocks) and a couple of ‘wow’ action scenes (especially the one in the water).

The Bollywood version is quite different from the original, besides the central plot idea of a slick agent teaming up with a hapless innocent girl after a meet-cute in a Shimla restaurant and a few scenes. Roshan plays Rajveer who has apparently stolen the coveted Kohinoor diamond and is now trying to out-fox

Omar, an international criminal played by Danny Denzongpa. Harleen (Kaif) works as a bank receptionist, eating tubs of ice cream in bed while dreaming of exotic holidays and romance. An online arranged blind date results in her path crossing with Rajveer. This sets them off on a global adventure as they try and escape the bullets of Omar’s men and the Indian secret service.

During this journey love blooms and eventually the truth about the Kohinoor and Rajveer’s plan is revealed. The story is wafer-thin. The onscreen antics barely pop. Yes, there are a few laughs and boy, can Roshan dance. But besides the eye-candy the film lacks bang.

Pavan Malhotra, Javed Jaffery and Vikram Gokhale pitch in with fittingly exaggerated performances making you wonder at times if Anand intended to make a spoof!

But it hardly matters. You have Roshan and Kaif. You have Roshan displaying all this fluid dance moves. You have armchair traveled to Prague, Abu Dhabi, Thailand, London and more. Did one expect more? It’s always something when a film lives up to expectations.
